JSTOR Daily, our online magazine, won a Silver Anthem for excellence in mission-driven news and journalism from the producers of the prestigious Webby Awards. Daily was recognized for its contributions to the fields of Education, Arts & Culture in the the Awareness & Media Category for Non-Profit Institutions.
Founded in 2014, JSTOR Daily gives millions of readers depth and perspective by connecting evidence and research to today’s news and events. Recent stories include the “real” Rosie the Riveter, the protracted birth of the USSR, the Attica uprising as reported in the prison press, and the groundbreaking Afrocentrism at Milestone Comics.
“Now more than ever, when misinformation spreads so quickly around the internet, there is a growing need for journalism grounded in research,” says Catherine Halley, the founding editor of JSTOR Daily. “That’s our speciality at JSTOR Daily, where each of our stories builds on the published work of academic experts and provides free access to that research for all of our readers. We’re so glad to have received an Anthem Award for this work.”
The 2023 Anthem Winners were selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences from 2,000 submissions representing 43 countries around the world. We’re proud to be honored alongside other high-profile winners, including The Pulitzer Center, the National Geographic Society, the Kennedy Center, and the Guggenheim Museum.
